We all have a level of anxiety, this is what keeps us safe, without it we would be unaware of dangers around us. But for some people the level of anxiety is too high, triggering when there's no reason. This is known as an anxiety disorder.
As with most things, the best way to return anxiety to normal levels is to go to the root of the problem – the subconscious mind.
You may or may not know why your subconscious mind is creating your anxiety (the trigger), but that's ok. Using hypnosis to communicate directly with your subconscious I can help it remove the unnecessary anxiety and help you feel calm and relaxed, so you're able to do the things you want to do without all that fear and dread.
What is Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. For most people it feels like a deep state of relaxation and it allows the hypnotherapist to communicate directly with the subconscious mind and make suggestions that will help it to achieve the desired outcome. Hypnosis is perfectly safe, and despite how it may be portrayed in films, it is not mind control – I can't make you say or do anything that you don't want to!
What if I can't be Hypnotised?
I've been helping people for six years now and I have never had a client who couldn't be hypnotised. In fact, we all experience a state of hypnosis daily, most frequently when watching TV! The only time you couldn't be hypnotised is if you didn't want to be, if you fight it, it won't happen.
Will I have to relive past events?
Some hypnotherapists use regression (reliving past events) as a way to resolve issues. Whilst this is effective, I prefer to help my clients without regression as it can also be distressing. Instead, I prefer to use metaphors and visualisations to help the subconscious mind let go of the things it's holding onto. This is just as effective, and it means I can help you without you needing to talk about or even think about past events. If I think regression becomes necessary, we will discuss it before the session and you decide whether it's something you want to do.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different so I can't say for sure, but I have found that for the majority of my clients 4 sessions is about right.
